About the planned changes told the head of Abakan Alexei Lemin. According to him, the rules for the placement of tobacco stores will now be determined by municipalities. The city is preparing a relevant normative act, which must be adopted by the Council of Deputies.
The distance of 100 meters from the entrance to the educational organization is considered. Before issuing a license to sell tobacco, the Ministry of Finance of Khakassia will ask the city administration for a scheme of territories where trade in such products is prohibited. According to Lemin, the new rules could significantly reduce the number of places where tobacco is allowed to be sold, including in high-rise areas.
From March 1, 2027, a license will be required for retail sale of tobacco products. In addition, federal law prohibits the remote trade of tobacco and nicotine-containing products, hookahs and devices for nicotine consumption.
Authorities hope that the restrictions will help protect children from cigarettes and vapes. Despite the ban on the sale of such products to minors, teenagers continue to look for ways to purchase them – for example, with the help of adult acquaintances or bypassing age check-ups at self-service checkouts.
