The creation of bioecological settlements in the Arctic zone of Russia was named one of the priorities for the development of the bioeconomy of this territory. This follows from the decree of the government of the Russian Federation of October 5, 2026.
The government approved a strategy for the development of the bioeconomy until 2036 and for the future until 2050. The document states that bioecovillages should become an innovative model for organizing life in the region.
The main directions of the development of bioeconomy in the Arctic include the study of biodiversity and the search for biological resources, the development of cryotechnologies, the creation of autonomous life support systems and environmental safety.
According to the explanatory note to the draft federal budget, about 12 billion rubles are planned for the national bioeconomy project in 2027-2029.
