The problems began in mid-September. The woman went to the dentist, but the prescribed antibiotics did not help stop the infection. Surgery was required, but the usual dental clinic did not take risks and referred the patient to the hospital.
In October, a 77-year-old resident of Barnaul urgently entered the department of maxillofacial surgery of the city hospital No. 5. As the patient's daughter, the surgery involved serious risks due to the mother's health condition.
The pensioner has atrial fibrillation, so she constantly took blood thinners. In addition, the woman moved only with walkers and was very afraid of anesthesia.
“My mother was worried that she would not wake up with her heart. Many components of standard sedatives are contraindicated, the woman shared.
Continuous use of blood thinners increased the risk of severe bleeding during surgery, and heart disease limited the use of standard anesthesia. Therefore, the doctors decided to carefully prepare the patient for intervention.
For three days, the woman was under strict medical supervision. During this time, specialists normalized heart rate and pressure, constantly monitored the work of the heart. To reduce the risk of bleeding, the usual drugs were temporarily canceled and the patient was transferred to heparin injections. The operation began only after stabilization of her condition.
Surgical intervention was carried out by maxillofacial surgeon Anton Aksyonov and anesthesiologist-resuscitator Nikita Sviridov. The doctors selected a suitable anesthesia regimen and successfully operated on the woman. There were no complications, and the next day the patient was discharged home in satisfactory condition.
The daughter of the pensioner separately thanked the doctors for their attention and support. According to her, doctors helped the mother cope with the excitement, and after the operation regularly visited her and were interested in her health.
