Representatives of the older generation pay attention to sports. The proportion of older people aged 65+ who exercise is 32%. This was told to journalists on September 29 by Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection Marina Artemenko, the correspondent of the "Minsk-news" agency reports.
— On the eve of the Day of the Elderly, Belarus traditionally hosts a large-scale campaign "Respect. Care. Responsibility," M. Artemenko emphasized. — State authorities, public organizations, trade unions are connected to it. The action is aimed at showing care and attention to older citizens on the part of the younger generation.
The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection also drew attention to the fact that a number of thematic events are planned for the Day of Older Persons. In particular, on October 1, the V Republican Scandinavian Walking Marathon "Step to Longevity" will open. A symbolic start with the participation of Minister Andrei Lobovich will be given in Dzerzhinsk. In the capital, the marathon will gather outdoor enthusiasts on the health trail in Apple Square. On the same day, the International Forum "Innovations for the Quality of Life of People 65+" starts in Minsk. The republican sports and mass competitions "Active Longevity — 2026" will be held in the capital on October 3.
— I note that representatives of the older generation are actively paying attention to sports. The proportion of older people aged 65+ who exercise is 32%. And almost 72% of them are engaged four times a week or more, "the speaker specified.
