Pregnant women in Belarus to be officially released from work for trips to the doctor
The Labor Code of Belarus may be amended to allow pregnant employees to legally leave work for compulsory medical examinations. This initiative was made by the Deputy Angelika Kurchak after the appeals of citizens. The matter has already been agreed with the Ministry of Health.

In the Belarusian labor legislation plans to add a provision that will allow pregnant employees to be legally released from work duties for mandatory tests and visits to doctors. Such a proposal was made on the air of the RTR-Belarus TV channel by a member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Angelika Kurchak.
The MP explained that this idea is dictated by real appeals of citizens. As an example, she cited a case from personal practice, when during a personal reception a man came to her with a complaint about the leadership of his pregnant wife, refusing to let her go to the clinic during working hours.
Angelika Kurchak noted that the current version of the Labor Code does not yet regulate the provision of work-free hours for routine medical examinations.
“We have already worked on this issue in our relevant commissions. I also worked with the Ministry of Health. I hope that when this bill comes to us, I will initiate such an addition to our Labor Code, said Angelika Kurchak.
