Belarus plans to make certification of hotels according to the system of “stars” mandatory
The introduction of the system will be phased: by January 1, 2028, the “stars” should receive large hotels with more than 70 rooms

Belarus is considering a draft decree that will oblige all accommodation facilities to undergo official certification. This was reported on the air of the program “Actual interview” on the TV channel “First Information” by the head of the certification department of BelGISS services Tatiana Smirnova, BelTA reports.
According to her, the document has already been agreed and is under consideration in the government. The introduction of the system will be phased: by January 1, 2028, the stars should receive large hotels with a room stock of more than 70 rooms, and by January 1, 2029, all other facilities. Tatiana Smirnova noted that the process will be painless, as the industry has been preparing for this innovation for several years. When developing the project, the authorities relied on the experience of Russia, where such a procedure is already mandatory. If the hotel does not meet the declared category, the certification body will point out the inconsistencies and make recommendations for their elimination.
Of the approximately 600 hotels operating in Belarus, only 90 have official certificates. The highest category "five stars" received five accommodation facilities, four stars - ten, three stars - 44, two stars - ten, the category "without stars" - twelve. Nine hostels are also certified.
You can check the status of any hotel, find out its category and the validity period of the certificate on the website "Quality.bel" in the section "Certified hotels of Belarus".
