What events are planned within the framework of the action “I and my family without profanity”, the chairman of the Union of Writers of Belarus, director of the publishing house “Belarus” Alexander Karlyukevich told reporters on October 9, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.
The action “Me and my family without profanity” is held for the third time. During the October events dedicated to Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Parental Love Week, the question of the destructive power of profanity will be raised.
- In 2025, the Republican Council on Morals created a good tradition of holding this event. The culture of speech, the way we behave in society, is the moral core of our entire state. We are grateful that last year and this year the action was supported by the government of our country, Karlyukevich said. Events will be held in all parishes and dioceses of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.
According to him, one of the key events is the all-republican open literary competition named after St. Kirill Turovsky “In harmony with himself and the world”. Works of authors in Belarusian and Russian languages in various literary genres are accepted for participation: short stories, essays, novels, ballads, poems, fables and other works corresponding to the theme of the competition. Work is accepted until December 15.
The organizers paid special attention to the work with the media.
- We appealed to the heads of various electronic and printed media resources so that the topic “I and my family without profanity” was more often heard on the pages of our publications, Karlyukevich said. We would like various scientists to join the problem, show their position, talk about sociological calculations. It is important to understand why certain words, not only profanity, but also slang, penetrate into our consciousness and our speech.
He also noted the work of the Union of Writers in Vitebsk and Gomel regions. Writers visit schools and tell children about the problem, explain to them the importance of purity of speech.
- Not only in public places, but also in the family, it is necessary to observe all norms, and also to understand that profanity leads to the destruction of a harmonious moral personality, Karlyukevich concluded.
