Republican cultural and educational contest “Healthy Word” started in Belarus

The Republican cultural and educational contest “Healthy Word” was launched in Belarus in early October. Its goal is to increase the level of speech culture of society. Such information is posted on the official portal of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, writes sb.by.

The organizers of the Healthy Word contest invite authors from all over Belarus to think about the power of language and the meaning of speech in the life of individuals and society, reflecting the phenomenon of words in their creative work. Acceptance of competitive applications will last until January 14, 2027.

The initiator of the competition was the Republican cultural and educational youth project “Healthy Word”, co-organizers are the Institute of Theology named after Saints Methodius and Kirill BSU, the Charitable Foundation for Support of Family, Motherhood and Childhood “Pokrov”, the NGO “Union of Writers of Belarus”, the NGO “Belarusian Union of Journalists” and the Faculty of Journalism of BSU.

- As the authors of the idea note, the word is able to unite and inspire, form a worldview and culture of communication, influence relations between people, the BOC said. - It is the understanding of this role of the word that the competition is devoted to. Its goals are to increase the level of speech culture of society on the basis of strengthening respect for the state languages as the national heritage of the Republic of Belarus, reviving the importance of the word in the life of the individual and society, popularizing beautiful, healthy and literate speech among young people.

The general theme of the contest works is related to the importance of the phenomenon of the word in the formation of the personality, as well as the importance of preserving the identity and high culture of speech for the harmonious development of society and the state. Belarusian citizens over the age of 15 years are invited to participate.

The competition is held in three categories: “The Power of Word” (author’s poems, songs in the musical accompaniment of any genre), “Word in the frame” (nomination for the creation of outdoor social advertising) and “Our territory is Belarus without profanity” (staged plot videos and short films published on social networks with the hashtags #healthy word and #ZS2026).
