More than 2 million electronic recipes have been issued in Belarus for ten years

One of the key stages of digitalization of medicine was the project “Electronic prescription”. Since its launch in 2016, more than 2 million electronic recipes have been issued in Belarus. This was told to journalists on October 13, Deputy Head of the Information and Pharmaceutical Center of the enterprise “Belpharmacy” Nikita Timofeev, reports the correspondent of the agency “Minsk-Novosti”.

According to the representative of Belfarmatsia, the Electronic Recipe project was developed jointly with the Ministry of Health and the Joint Institute for Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. After testing the project in 2016, it was put into commercial operation with a gradual coverage of the entire republic.

- At the moment, more than two million electronic recipes have been written out in the country, Timofeev said. This saved patients and pharmacists from the standard problems of paper forms, which can break or become unreadable. Now it is enough for each citizen to contact the registry of his clinic once, write an application and receive a health care card. After that, the doctor prescribes the appointment in electronic form, and a person can get the right medicine on this card in any pharmacy in the country.

Along with this, the company is developing other digital services, in particular, the pharmacy reference service 169 has been modernized.

- Today, this number has become unified for the entire republic and works on the principle of territoriality, Timofeev said. For example, when dialing number 169 in Vitebsk, the subscriber automatically gets to the help service of the Vitebsk region.

In addition, through a single service "169" you can get professional advice on medicines or book the necessary medicines in any convenient pharmacy. Possible subsequent delivery of medicines at home, but only over-the-counter.
