Six couriers of telephone scammers detained in Belarus during the day, two of them are foreigners

Over the past day, the Belarusian police received about 400 applications for phone scams. Thanks to the efficiency of law enforcement officers and the vigilance of citizens, the vast majority of atrocities were prevented, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Employees of the department of fraud processing initiated the blocking of four phishing Internet resources – fake trading platforms, banks or services indistinguishable from the real ones. In addition, the possibility of payments to 42 foreign details used by cybercriminals was blocked, and expenditure operations on 34 accounts were suspended.

The operatives detained six couriers working in the interests of scammers, including two foreigners. They seized more than 140,000 BYN.

However, 31 crimes involving the use of information and communication technologies were recorded.

As for the methods of committing illegal acts, fraud leads when buying goods on the Internet. Then there are visching on behalf of officials (telephone fraud) and theft using social networks.
