In Belomorsk updated historical bomb shelters of the period of the great Patriotic war

The restoration of wartime fortifications in Belomorsk is in full swing. Information about this is reported by the regional Ministry of construction.

A project to restore these rare historical sites was approved the year before last.

According to official information from the Directorate for the Construction of Social, Transport and Engineering Infrastructure of the Republic of Karelia, specialists have already installed a drainage system at the first facility that prevents the accumulation of groundwater, and have also started pouring concrete into the entrance zones. On the second bunker, drainage is mounted in parallel, internal partitions are removed and facades are finished.

After the completion of all activities, the updated underground spaces will become part of the museum complex. They will allow guests of Belomorsk to feel the atmosphere of 1942-1943 and get acquainted with the arrangement of the real command staff of that era.
