Belarusian schools to host Parental Love Week on October 14-21

In the institutions of general secondary education of Belarus from 14 to 21 October will be held the Week of parental love, timed to celebrate in the country Mother's Day and Father's Day. Such information is posted on the National educational portal, reports sb.by.

Schools and gymnasiums will host a number of thematic events dedicated to family education, responsible parenthood, interaction of educational institutions with the family, the theme of the Year of the Belarusian woman.

The National Educational Portal contains guidelines for parental love week. The document notes that the event will contribute to the formation of students’ positive attitude to traditional family values, respect for parents, understanding the importance of family in human life and society, strengthening cooperation and interaction between school and family.

Teachers are recommended to hold awareness-raising events this week with the invitation of representatives of the healthcare sector, the Belarusian Orthodox Church, the NGO “Belaya Rus”, the Belarusian Union of Women and other specialists in family education. These can be classroom hours, lectures, seminars, webinars, round tables, discussions and trainings. Also, institutions can hold open days for parents, competitions, creative events, games and sports holidays, organize social projects and actions.

In addition, parents will be shown a feature-documentary film “Mamma’s Letter”, it can be discussed with a psychologist, a representative of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.
