More than 20 kilometers of heating networks were replaced in Brest in preparation for the heating season of 2026/2027. More than 11 kilometers of pipelines were updated by the organizations of housing and communal services, about 9 kilometers - by the enterprises of the energy system. At the same time, boiler houses were repaired in the city, smoke pipes were changed and the heating systems of residential buildings were put in order, writes sb.by.

The new heating season in Brest will begin on October 12. In 2025, the heat began to be served on September 29 - 13 days earlier. A later launch this year is due to the comfortable outdoor temperature. Taking into account the projected cooling, social institutions will be the first to connect, after which utilities will start to the housing stock.
The preparation of the city began immediately after the end of the previous heating season. The bulk of the work fell on heating lines, through which heat flows to apartment buildings, hospitals, schools and other facilities. The total length of the pipelines of the Brest heat supply system exceeds 900 kilometers.
When updating networks, pre-insulated pipes are used. They allow to reduce losses during transportation of coolant. Previously, the passage of heat networks in winter could often be seen by the talins on the lawns. Modern insulation helps to keep heat inside the system and improve the quality of service for consumers.
Andrey Gashev, General Director of KUMPE "Brest City Housing and Utilities" noted that the preparation was not limited to the replacement of outdoor networks:
- Work began immediately after the end of the previous heating season. More than 11 kilometers of pipes replaced the organization of housing and communal services, about 9 kilometers — energy. In parallel, boiler houses were reconstructed, smoke pipes were changed, preventive repairs of heat sources were carried out. This year, 28 residential buildings were overhauled in Brest, where heating systems were updated if necessary. Now we have not only to launch them, but also to make adjustments so that residents feel the result of the whole range of work carried out.
In total, 49 heat sources operate in Brest, 29 of which are involved in heating the main housing stock. Centralized heating is necessary to provide about 1900 apartment buildings. The greatest load falls on multi-storey buildings, so it is technically impossible to connect all consumers at the same time.
After supplying the coolant, utilities will need time to adjust the equipment. To start heating in the housing stock is given up to five days, up to ten days can take adjustment work. Specialists will have to eliminate air traffic jams, adjust indoor systems and check the equipment after the start of circulation of the coolant.
If the batteries remain cold after connecting the house, noise is heard in the system or a radiator leak is detected, residents should leave a request on the number 115. Utilities will troubleshoot the problems as the heat supply starts and adjusts.
First social institutions, then residential buildings in Brest from October 12 will begin to supply heat
