In Bryansk began to replenish the register of bone marrow donors

In Bryansk, a flash mob will last several months to enter the Federal Register of Bone Marrow Donors. The start of the action took place in the park named after Karl Marx, where a mobile blood transfusion station worked. Students, volunteers, employees of enterprises and residents of the city joined the participation.
Participants could donate blood and learn about bone marrow donation at the same time. Students of the Bryansk Medical and Social College named after N.M. Amosov held consultations and told about the preparation for donation, and also accompanied the participants after the procedure.
The organizers note that many people have a misconception about bone marrow donation. No operation is required to enter the register. A blood sample or smear from the inside of the cheek is taken from a potential donor. The procedure takes about 15-20 minutes.
Replenishment of the register is necessary to increase the chances of patients with severe cancer and hematological diseases to find a compatible donor. Currently, there are more than 545,000 potential donors in the Federal Register, while the minimum requirement for Russia is 1 million people.
In the Bryansk region, the work on replenishment of the register continues not for the first year. In January 2025, 34 students of the Amosov Technical School simultaneously donated blood and entered the register. Since September 2026, a permanent biomaterial reception point has been operating in the Bryansk branch of the Russian Red Cross.
