At night, people without reflective elements become almost invisible to drivers, which increases the risk of accidents. The use of flickers is one of the easiest and most effective ways to prevent a tragedy, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports with reference to the capital traffic police.
When the headlights are turned on, the driver is able to notice a pedestrian without reflectors only from 30 meters. If there are flickers on the road user, the visibility distance increases to 150 meters. Reflective elements are recommended to wear on outerwear, shoes, hats, as well as on backpacks and bags.
The traffic police remind that crossing the roadway is necessary only on pedestrian crossings.
