Large-scale exercise of territorial defense continues in the Gomel region. Today, one of the most difficult elements of training has been worked out – actions in a real combat scenario. Soldiers, many of whom in civilian life are engaged in completely peaceful professions, today acted as a single unit: detecting the enemy, repelling the attack and regaining control of the defensive line.

According to the scenario of the exercise, the enemy broke through the front line of defense

The scenario is educational, but as close as possible to the possible development of events. How modern technology and tactics are changing the training of the thermodefense and why the work of the entire team is especially important here.

Southern direction, state border. The conditional enemy conducts reconnaissance using drones. The approaching group is discovered by the patrol department - and almost immediately the units of the territorial troops enter the case. The armored group is trying to stop on the approaches, but the enemy manages to wedge into the front line of defense.

The border is broken. The illegal armed formation is moving in the direction of the M8 road - towards Gomel. The task of the defenders is to stop the enemy and prevent him from developing an offensive. The scenario of the exercise is fictional, but the actions are as close as possible to the real situation.

Military personnel used drones, mobile groups and quad bikes

Internal troops and specialists of environmental inspection come to the aid of territorial ones. Employees who are engaged in the search for poachers, know how to navigate in the forest and work on difficult terrain. In the course are drones, mobile groups and off-road equipment – including ATVs and other machines that are used in peaceful life, but if necessary can solve and defense tasks.

Dmitry Polyakov, commander of the department of the territorial troops of the Gomel region: I served in 2002, during this time a lot has changed. Absolutely. Firstly, the armament has changed, the tactics of the battle have changed dramatically, in general, the equipment does not stand still – a lot of new weapons, digital, very easy to work with. Everything - the exact coordinates, aerial reconnaissance - works wonderfully.”.

As a result, the conditional enemy is ousted from the captured positions, and units of territorial troops regain control of the site. This is a fundamental point: the sooner the advance is stopped, the less opportunities the advancing side has to gain a foothold.

At the meetings, special attention was paid to the interaction of units

And the fortified area itself is not a decoration built specifically for teaching. This is a real object that has significance in the Ukrainian direction. We are talking, among other things, about the Gomel-Chernihiv road, where it is theoretically possible to promote people and equipment. One of the tasks of the territorial troops is to prevent penetration into the interior of the country and to contain large forces in prepared positions. In fact, such training allows you to test in practice how effectively the created defense system can work.

For many participants in the training camp, the army uniform was a return to service, years later. After such a break, some skills have to be restored almost from scratch. But the previous experience remains an important basis, and the current program allows only to supplement it with what has appeared in military affairs in recent years.

The exercises allowed to check the readiness of the thermodefense system

Today, the training of a serviceman of territorial defense involves working in a variety of conditions - in open areas, in the forest, residential buildings and premises. Shooting, tactics, work with weapons and equipment - here every lesson is exclusively practice. The experience of modern armed conflicts is also taken into account, including changing approaches to movement, reconnaissance and interaction within units.

Especially when you have to act not alone, but shoulder to shoulder. When it is important not only the individual skill, but also the understanding of their role in the overall system. The composition of the territorial troops is formed taking into account specific military specialties – everyone has different tasks and different areas of responsibility.

Everyone is required to know the capabilities of fixed weapons and be able to act in accordance with a common goal. Ultimately, it is from such components that the readiness of the unit is formed: practical experience, discipline, physical endurance and the ability to work harmoniously in a team.
