820 young citizens of Minsk took part in the city action "World Line"

The third city "World Line" was held on the square near the Holy Spirit Cathedral on September 21. The action under the motto “Unity for Peace!” united 820 young citizens of Minsk and is timed to coincide with the International Day of Peace and the 65th anniversary of the Belarusian Peace Fund, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti news agency reports.

The event was held within the framework of the national project “Network of Peace Schools in the Republic of Belarus”, which is implemented by the Minsk City Branch of the Belarusian Peace Fund in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. Today, 82 educational institutions have the honorary status of “School of Peace” in the Belarusian capital: 50 secondary schools, 19 gymnasiums, 4 colleges, 4 centers of additional education for children and youth, as well as 5 kindergartens.

The initiative was supported by senators, deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, the leadership of the Minsk City Executive Committee, representatives of education and health services, clergy, as well as diplomats of the embassies of Russia, Uzbekistan, Venezuela and Vietnam.

The action was opened by the solemn procession of the march-orchestra of the capital school No. 153 named after A.K. Talai.

- Unity is built on such sincere initiatives. I am sure that every voice for peace spoken today in the heart of Minsk will be heard in all corners of the world, said Dmitry Karan, Chairman of the Minsk City Branch of the Belarusian Peace Fund.

- The word peace consists of only three letters, but they contain the deepest meaning: friendship, purity, spiritual comfort, tranquility and spirituality. Take care of this word and all that is holy on earth – mutual respect, sincere love and humanity. I wish you guys to always smile, cherish peace in your native Belarus and bring these creative values to other peoples, said Lyudmila Lyakhnovich, First Deputy Chairman of the Education Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee.

A touching moment was the performance of the pupils of kindergarten No. 257 - the youngest peacekeepers of the capital, who presented the musical and choreographic composition "The Vasilky Sky of My Country". Also, the ensemble of folk dance “Skavysh” of the National Center for Artistic Creativity of Children and Youth with the composition “The World, Mother, Me” performed.

The bell ringing of the Holy Spirit of the Cathedral sounded, announcing the solemn continuation of the meeting. An important part of the holiday was the adoption of the Appeal of the young peacekeepers of the capital to the peoples of the Earth. They called on the leaders of states and all the inhabitants of the planet to extend their hands for the sake of harmony and a life without wars. In memory of those who gave their lives for a peaceful future, representatives of each school lit candles, after which the participants honored the victims with a minute of silence.

The congratulations were joined by Deputy Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in Belarus Andrey Evkin:

It was cloudy in the morning in Minsk, but by the beginning of our meeting the sky over the capital was clear. I would like to wish that our soul was always joyful and cloudless, and life horizons remained clear and open to achieve great goals. The ideals of peacemaking will live on and win.

In the final of the action, the creative team of the Svetoch Center for Additional Education of Children and Youth and BSUIR students performed the song “Children of Different Nations”. The creative issue also brought together the youngest peacekeepers from the capital’s kindergartens, students of the Peace Schools, activists of the secondary school No. 121 named after M. F. Egorov and representatives of the Republican Center for National Cultures.

The World Line ended with the symbolic launch of ten white pigeons.
