Today, on September 18, the Grodno State Museum of the History of Religion opened the exposition “The Splendor of Omani Silver” from the collection of the National Museum of the Sultanate of Oman with the participation of Princess Mona bint Fahad Al Said and other distinguished guests.

Previously, the exposition “The splendor of Omani silver” from the collection of the National Museum of the Sultanate of Oman was exhibited in the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus. The exposition also became a bright decoration of the exhibition program of the XXXV International Festival of Arts “Slavic Bazaar in Vitebsk”.
The Omani delegation arrived in Grodno as part of an official visit to Belarus through the ministries of education and culture. Princess Mona bint Fahad Al Saeed noted the importance of developing further relations:
- We held successful bilateral talks at the level of the Ministry of Education and two universities. In addition, two memorandums were signed with universities, and an agreement was reached on joint plans in the field of academic cooperation, student internships, and scientific projects. We are proud of the achievements we have made in the field of higher education and intend to develop this cooperation.

- Last year, during a meeting with the Sultan of Oman, the President stressed that the dialogue between Belarus and Oman is destined to become an example of a truly trusting, mutually beneficial and equal dialogue between friendly states. The visit of the Princess confirms this thesis, because by carrying out a great work in the field of humanitarian cooperation, Her Highness creates additional opportunities for understanding each other by our peoples.

During the working visit, the parties also touched upon the issue of expanding cooperation between the Grodno region and the Sultanate of Oman in the social sphere. In addition to discussing the key areas of bilateral cooperation, an important part of the working visit was the presentation of the cultural heritage of Oman.
The Secretary General of the National Museum of the Sultanate of Oman, Jamal Hassan Al-Musawi, noted that the exhibition reveals the richness of the country’s historical and cultural heritage, the diversity of Omani culture, its customs and traditions:
- The art of silver processing is one of the most important areas of Omani culture. Since ancient times, silver decorated products not only testified to the status and material well-being of the owner, but also served as a way of artistic expression of the master. The exposition presents exquisite works of Omani masters: ceremonial daggers, belts, amulets, jewelry, accessories made of precious metal.

The exhibition presents various examples of traditional khanjar daggers created in different periods of Oman’s history. Used since the third millennium BC, the khanjars performed both practical and ceremonial functions. Today, the Khanjar is a symbol of the country and is depicted on the coat of arms of Oman. Hanjar production is a complex craft that combines work with metal, wood, leather and fabric.
Separate sections of the exhibition are devoted to traditional costumes and jewelry, reflecting the religious, social and aesthetic values of the Omani people. A special place is occupied by the complex of memorial items of Princess Sayyida Salma bint Sa’id al-Busa’idi, the author of the work “Memoirs of an Arab Princess”, the world’s first autobiography of a noble Arab woman. Part of the exhibition introduces visitors to the culture of fragrance - one of the traditional components of life in all regions of Oman. The exhibition features bottles of male perfume from the world-famous perfume house Amouage, whose design was inspired by the traditional Omani dagger.

The trade turnover of Grodno region with the Sultanate of Oman in January-June 2026 amounted to almost two million dollars. The export position is milk powder. Import position - ball bearings.
