In IK-3 UFSIN of Russia in the Ivanovo region held a meeting with a representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in the framework of the Week of interreligious dialogue
In the penal colony No. 3 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Ivanovo region, within the framework of the Week of Interreligious Dialogue and the Courses for Preparing Convicted Persons for Release, a meeting was held with Archpriest Georgy Kolotygin.
During the event, participants discussed the foundations of Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Buddhism. The convicts learned more about the emergence of the four main religious movements – Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism – about their similarities and differences, spiritual principles and foundations. The participants shared their knowledge and experience of strengthening interreligious peace in modern society.
Archpriest George Kolotygin touched upon the topic of the scriptures, revealing the differences in the sacred texts of Buddhists, Muslims, Christians and Jews. Special attention was paid to the tolerant attitude towards all believers, regardless of their religion.
The convicts noted that the role of religion in prisons is relevant, since it teaches a person to cultivate tolerance, humility, diligence and other virtues.
Such meetings contribute to the spiritual and moral education of convicts, the formation of a respectful attitude towards representatives of different faiths and successful resocialization after release.
