Kaliningrad is preparing for a strong storm: gusts of western and southwestern winds can reach 25-27 meters per second. Due to bad weather, city services were put on high alert, and residents were asked to go out as little as possible.
According to the head of the city Elena Dyatlova, a strong wind is expected in the morning of October 9. An additional danger is created by foliage, which is still kept on trees: because of it, the crowns resist the wind more strongly, increasing the risk of falling branches and entire trees.
Citizens are advised not to walk in parks and urban forests, not to approach trees and advertising structures, and not to leave cars next to them. In schools and kindergartens in Kaliningrad today allowed free admission.
The night before, Elena Dyatlova signed a decree on the introduction of a high-alert regime. Municipal utilities have formed emergency teams and prepared equipment to quickly eliminate the consequences of bad weather – from fallen trees to damage to power grids and communal infrastructure.
Earlier we wrote that in Kaliningrad today allowed not to take children to schools and kindergartens because of the storm.
