In Kalmykia called the date of celebration of the Day of the descent of Buddha from the sky Tushita

November 1, 2026 in Kalmykia will be held celebrations in honor of the descent of Buddha from the sky of Tushita to Earth. This date corresponds to the 22nd lunar day of the month of Mouse and is one of the most important events for Buddhists in Russia.

The festival will gather hundreds of people in the temples of the republic. The faithful will take part in solemn services and prayers, as well as bring offerings to the monastic Sangha.

The main idea of the celebration is to honor one of the twelve main acts of Buddha Shakyamuni. Tradition says that while in the Tushita sky, the Buddha made a decision about the last rebirth on Earth. Having chosen the ruler Shakya Shuddhodana and Maya as his parents, he entered the side of his future mother in the form of a white elephant and was born a prince to open the path of the Buddha to living beings.
