In the “Stone Log” after the reconstruction will be able to pass up to 6 thousand cars per day

Reconstruction of the road checkpoint "Stone Log" will begin this year. The works are designed until 2029, and after their completion, the estimated capacity of the facility will be about 6 thousand cars per day. This was told to journalists on September 15 by a representative of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Belarus.

- Until 2029, it is planned to reconstruct the checkpoint "Stone Log" - Lithuania. This year we will start work, – said the head of the main department of the organization of customs control of the State customs Committee Viktor Zubik.

According to him, the main change will affect the organization of traffic across the border.

- The plan is to increase the number of bands (channels). We are considering and considering the possibility of providing channel passage of vehicles across the border. Because of this, the throughput capacity will increase three times and, according to estimated estimates, will be about 6,000 cars per day, Zubik said.

This year, the Belarusian Customs Service celebrates its 35th anniversary. It was established on September 20, 1991 by the Resolution of the Supreme Council of the BSSR “On the Customs Service of the Republic of Belarus”.

- Nothing is possible without infrastructure. After 35 years of sovereign customs service, we now have 26 road crossing points, 13 railway. There is the necessary infrastructure: technical and software tools that allow us to efficiently ensure our work, said V. Zubik.

The total capacity of road checkpoints is currently 32 thousand cars per day. Some of the facilities are temporarily closed.

- Yes, due to known circumstances and events, some of them are closed. But at all checkpoints, we continuously support work, efficiency and are ready to resume traffic at any time, Zubik said.

Over the past five years, 12 checkpoints have been reconstructed in Belarus.

- Separately, I would like to note the reconstruction of the Brest checkpoint. We have just completed it on the eve of the opening of our Bobrovniki checkpoint from the Polish side. By the time of opening, we already had a modern reconstructed checkpoint, which allows for comfortable movement of goods and citizens across the border, the representative of the State Customs Committee said.
