In Karelia for the first time performed surgery for prostate adenoma on a powerful Russian laser

Alim Mukhamedovich Dymov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Institute of Urology and Reproductive Human Health of the First MSMU named after I.M. Sechenov, urologist, oncologist, one of the leading Russian specialists in the field of laser prostate surgery. Together with Karelian doctors, he conducted operations and shared his experience right in the operating room.

The introduction of this method is an important step in the development of the urological service of the republic.

The operations were carried out using a Russian-made thulium laser Urolase Max. In Karelia, this is the first use of such a powerful device. Now it is the only similar laser in the republic, which works in the Republican hospital of ambulance and emergency medical care This laser allows you to perform the most modern operations on the prostate gland. Another unit is being purchased for the new hospital. Thanks to him, laser enucleation will become a routine procedure in Karelia, and residents of the republic will not need to apply for it in other regions.

Prostate adenoma (benign prostatic hyperplasia) is one of the most frequent urological diseases in men after 45 years, and by the age of 60 there is about every second. Because of it, urination is disturbed, a person does not sleep well, the quality of life decreases noticeably.

Laser enucleation is a low-traumatic operation without incisions. The surgeon through natural pathways completely removes the overgrown gland tissue using a laser. The method has such advantages:

blood loss is minimal; the patient is discharged after a few days; surgery can be done even with a very large volume of the prostate; the result lasts for a long time, repeated operations are almost unnecessary.
