In Kazan, deputies proposed to include bull terriers in the list of dangerous dogs
The Committee on Ecology, Agropolitics and Environmental Management of the State Council of Tatarstan at its meeting approved a draft appeal addressed to the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin

The Committee on Ecology, Agropolitics and Environmental Management of the State Council of Tatarstan at its meeting approved a draft appeal addressed to the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin. Tatarstan deputies insist on tightening the legislative norms concerning the content of potentially dangerous dogs, and propose to supplement the current list with bull terriers. To date, this official list includes 12 breeds and their crosses.
The main argument of the authors of the bill is alarming statistics. Recently, incidents where bull terriers attacked citizens, including minors, have increased. As noted by the vice-speaker of the Committee Nazip Khazipov, initially this variety was formed as a fighting one, so it is characterized by a powerful grip, colossal endurance and immunity to pain. If bull terriers are officially recognized as potentially dangerous, the owners will be obliged to strictly comply with federal regulations for their content.
In addition, the people’s representatives put forward the idea to make it mandatory to pass training and social adaptation courses for such animals in specialized centers. To implement this idea, it will be necessary to amend Federal Law No. 498. According to the developers, the innovation will help minimize the threat of attacks and make owners treat the safety of others with great attention.
The parliamentary committee intends to submit this initiative for discussion at the next session of the State Council of the Republic of Tajikistan. In case of approval by the republican corps of deputies, the requirements for the maintenance of such pets and the responsibility of their owners may be tightened at the federal level.
