In Kirov after road repair pedestrian crossing became dangerous for children

After the road works near the house No. 7, the usual artificial irregularities disappeared, which provoked some motorists to ignore the speed limit and accelerate before a pedestrian crossing.

Concerned Kirov citizens appealed for support to the representatives of the Popular Front.

The reason for the emergency appeal was an incident that occurred in September, when a schoolgirl almost died under the wheels of transport. Directly in front of the girl at great speed, a motorcycle swept, and only chance saved the child from irreparable trouble.

Locals are pushing for the immediate return of artificial speed limiters to force drivers to slow down before people enter the roadway.

With the removal of road obstacles, the site has effectively become a high-risk area for children forced to cross a multilane highway on their way to school.

Pedestrians note that without restraining elements, motorists stopped slowing down even in the presence of road signs and markings.

Public activists from the Popular Front have already sent an official request to the administration of Kirov with a demand to take action. Municipal authorities assured that the issue of pedestrian safety will be resolved next year during the repair of sidewalks.

At the same time, road workers do not plan to return the previous noise strips, which previously caused a lot of complaints - instead of them, a modern raised pedestrian crossing will be arranged on the avenue.

Activists will monitor the situation until the work is completed.
