In Krasnodar, oncologists removed a malignant breast tumor in a woman, preserving the previously installed implant. The operation was carried out in the regional oncology clinic No. 1, reported in the press service of the Ministry of Health of Kuban.
A resident of the city turned to a private clinic for breast augmentation. Three months later, during a routine examination, she found a neoplasm in the left mammary gland.
According to the oncologist of the mammology department of oncology clinician Alexander Shadrin, the tumor was present during plastic surgery, but it was not detected. "The woman's breast cancer was detected at an early stage, but it was urgent to remove the tumor," the doctor added.
Specialists performed the operation and saved the implant. As Shadrin explained, if the tumor was located a few millimeters closer to the implant capsule, it would have to be removed along with the surrounding tissues to meet the necessary cancer requirements.
In Krasnodar, doctors successfully operated on a 71-year-old woman with a 9-centimeter tumor.
