In Krasnoyarsk, the heating season started - and fraudsters intensified

According to him, the call comes from a swap number. The caller introduces himself as a housemate and reports that a preliminary start of heating will soon take place. To do this, allegedly, special services will conduct a trial washing of pipes. In order for everything to pass “without accidents, as quickly and comfortably as possible”, a potential victim is offered to register and apply to the chat room of tenants of the house.

This scheme acquires special relevance against the background of the start of the heating season in Krasnoyarsk. In the city, it officially began on September 18 - the corresponding decree was signed by Mayor Sergei Vereshchagin. Heat is first served in social institutions - hospitals, schools, kindergartens, and then in residential buildings. Fully complete the connection is planned until September 25.

It is against this background that fraudsters are playing: when the city is massively running heating, and the batteries have not yet warmed up everywhere, the proposal to “register in the chat of residents” for “test washing pipes” may seem logical.

If a person agrees, a link to the entrance to this chat comes to the messenger. Further, the scenario develops according to a rolled-in scheme: clicking on a link or entering a code from an SMS - and the account in the messenger is in the hands of fraudsters. After that, the second wave of attack begins: on behalf of the hacked user, requests for money transfer are sent to all his contacts. Then there are calls allegedly from Rosfinmonitoring, the Central Bank, Roskomnadzor or the FSB - with reports of a power of attorney and transfer to the account of a terrorist organization.

The lawyer stressed that in order not to become a victim, you need to check information about planned work or test start of heating in official sources - on the website of the management company or HOA. It is strictly impossible to enter the proposed chats, take polls and votes, click on the transmitted links and enter codes from SMS.
