Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea reported on work on a large-scale project for the 150th anniversary of the birth of St. Luke of Crimea. It will include a multi-part film about the life path of the saint - from 8 or 12 episodes, reports "Crimea 24".
Within the framework of the program, it is planned to create a multi-part film about the life path of the saint. According to the Lord, we are talking about a picture of 8 or 12 series.
“I am now preparing a whole great program by the grace of God, by prayer. We are preparing a huge program, Metropolitan Tikhon said.
He also noted that even after years, he is still amazed at the strength of the spirit of St. Luke, who went through suffering and imprisonment.
Preparations for the 150th anniversary of St. Luke of Crimea, which will be celebrated in 2027, are conducted by decree of the President of Russia. The organizing committee for the celebration was headed by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, the co-chairman was Metropolitan of Simferopol and Crimean Tikhon.
The plan includes 124 initiatives in Russia and abroad. Among them are the restoration of the Holy Trinity Women’s Monastery in Simferopol, where the relics of the saint rest, the creation of a spiritual and cultural center and the expansion of the Museum of St. Luke, as well as the showing of a film about him to schoolchildren at the classes “Conversations about the Important”.
Earlier, in April 2025, in Simferopol, the premiere of the documentary “Doctor from God. St. Luke of Crimea”, created by the SPAS TV channel, took place. The film crew visited all places related to the life of the saint, from the northern regions of Russia to the Crimea, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. General producer of the film Boris Korchevnikov noted that the audience “will pass on all his roads.”.
Saint Luke (in the world Valentin Felixovich Voyno-Yasenetsky) was born in 1877 in Kerch, and died in 1961 in Simferopol. He was an outstanding surgeon, doctor of medicine and archbishop. The author of the work “Essays on Purulent Surgery”, for which he received the Stalin Prize of the first degree, most of which was transferred to the aid of orphans. In 2000 he was glorified by the Russian Orthodox Church as a saint.
