On the eleventh of October in the Leninsky district of Smolensk, traffic police officers will conduct a preventive measure in the format of “continuous inspections”. During this operation, on a certain section of the road, patrol officers will consistently stop passing cars to detect signs of alcohol or drug intoxication in drivers.
Representatives of the department remind of strict responsibility for driving a vehicle in a state of intoxication. The legislation provides for deprivation of driving licenses for up to two years and the imposition of an administrative fine of up to thirty thousand rubles. At the same time, the refusal to undergo a medical examination is legally equated with the offense itself, and for a repeated violation, a citizen faces the initiation of a criminal case.
The traffic police also noted that all patrol cars DPS equipped with video recorders for objective recording of what is happening. At the same time, citizens are given an equal right to make audio or video recordings in the course of communication with police officers, which contributes to the transparency and legality of procedures.
Such preventive raids are aimed at significantly reducing the level of accidents caused by drunk drivers and strengthening the overall discipline on the roads. The organizers of inspections expect that the awareness of car owners about the inevitability of punishment and the possibility of video recording interaction with inspectors will serve as an additional deterrent for potential violators.
