In the forests of the Pskov region arrived taps

With the onset of cold weather in the forests of the Pskov region, tap dancing appears - a small bird from the family of finches. About this "MK in Pskov" reported in the regional Committee on veterinary medicine.

She does not live in the region constantly: nests in the tundra and taiga, and comes here only in winter to wait out the cold.

Tap taps wander and remember well places with abundant seeds, returning there even after a long flight. Their main diet in winter is alder and birch seeds. To reach the stern, the bird hangs on thin branches upside down like a tit. In severe frosts and blizzards taps are buried in the snow, creating shelter for themselves.

Despite its fragile species, the bird plays an important role in the ecosystem: it spreads seeds and maintains natural balance.
