In the Gryazinsk Central District Hospital, surgeons rescued a 62-year-old patient whose huge gallstone completely blocked the duodenum. For three months of illness, the man lost up to 20 kilograms and almost could not eat normally. This was reported by the Minister of Health of the Lipetsk region Lilia Samoshina.
The man was admitted to the hospital with complaints of nausea and problems with eating. The examination showed a complete obstruction of the duodenum, after which the doctors prepared the patient for surgery.
During the intervention, it turned out that the stone damaged tissues and led to the formation of a pathological mouth between the gallbladder and duodenum. Surgeons removed the stone, eliminated the mouth and restored the patency of the intestine.
