In Minsk, the director of the enterprise was convicted of official negligence, which led to the death of a worker. The man allowed employees to perform work at heights without the necessary training and means of protection. Details of the criminal case in the program “Causes and Effect” on “Radio-Minsk” told the official representative of the Investigative Committee Alexander Sukhodolsky, the correspondent of the Agency “Minsk-Novosti”.

The tragedy occurred during the night shift. Three workers painted ceilings in the basement at the construction site. One of the men climbed the forest, the second insured the structure. At one point, the 25-year-old worker fell from a height of about three meters.

With various injuries, the victim was taken to a health care facility. Despite the efforts of doctors, he died a few months later.

Investigators found that the 45-year-old director of the company found workers through the Internet, but did not officially employ them. In addition, the head did not provide safe working conditions, did not provide the necessary equipment and personal protective equipment.

The work was carried out at night and without proper supervision. The deceased did not undergo training, vocational training and instruction on labor protection, and also did not have qualifications in the profession of “painter”. Despite this, the man performed work at height on the scaffolds without a fence, a protective helmet and a safety belt.

As established by the investigators, the deceased was a foreign student who had no right to be involved in labor and be at the construction site.

According to the expert's conclusion, the death of the man came from a severe injury to the head and thoracic spine, complicated by swelling and dislocation of the brain, prolonged coma and the development of purulent bronchopneumonia.

The director of the enterprise was charged under Part 2 of Art. 428 of the Criminal Code of Belarus - official negligence, which entailed the death of a person by negligence.

The court found the Minsk citizen guilty and appointed him five years of restriction of freedom without sending him to an open-type correctional institution.
