In Minsk, a pensioner attacked his son with knives – he was convicted of attempted murder

The sentence against a 65-year-old citizen who was accused of attempted murder entered into legal force, the Minsk prosecutor’s office told the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti news agency.

The photo is illustrative in nature

The accused lived in an apartment on the street. Gerasimenko with his wife, daughter and son, who was repeatedly tried and did not work anywhere officially. That evening, the defendant drank with colleagues and, returning home, once again quarreled with his son. The young man quietly turned on his mobile phone recorder, as the drunk parent expressed various threats against him. In the beginning, I didn’t take them seriously.

When the son was washing clothes in the bathroom, the defendant broke in there. He had two knives in his hands. The young man didn't notice because he was with his back to the door. Suddenly he felt a sharp pain - it turned out that his father had caused him three stab wounds in the back. Between relatives began a fight, in the midst of which the attacker twice stabbed his son in the chest.

Suddenly, the victim slipped and hit his head on the edge of the bath. The father took advantage of this and inflicted another stabbing on the young man - this time in the stomach. Next, the attacker put a blade to his neck, causing a cut, and then stabbed him in the forearm area.

The son managed to push his father away, he fell on his back and at this moment twice plunged the blade into the shin of the victim. The young man sat on the defendant from above and began to hold his hands, but the attacker was able to escape and inflict a stabbing knife on the rib on his son.

The victim with the last strength reached the kitchen, took a chair and hit their father, then opened the front door to the apartment and fell in the vestibule. The ambulance and police were called by neighbors.

The 36-year-old man came to himself only when the doctors gave him first aid. They then took the victim to the hospital. His father was arrested and a criminal case was opened against him.

In court, the pensioner did not admit guilt in the incriminated crime.

- The accused is a pensioner, but he worked as a fire retarder at one of the capital’s factories, previously had problems with the law, commented Yulia Lebedeva, deputy head of the Minsk prosecutor’s office for supervision over the compliance with the law of judicial decisions in criminal cases. The court found him guilty of attempted unlawful deprivation of life of another person (murder) and on the basis of Part 1 of Art. 14, Part 1 of Art. 139 of the Criminal Code sentenced him to seven years of imprisonment, which he will spend in a correctional colony under enhanced regime.

The sentence has entered into force.
