Tomorrow, October 8, Minsk will host the second meeting of the Council of Chairmen of the Supreme Courts of the CIS member states. The participation of heads of the highest judicial bodies of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan is planned. This was reported by sb.by in the press service of the Supreme Court of Belarus.

During the meeting of the Council, participants will exchange views on topical issues, priority areas and forms of judicial cooperation in the CIS format, discuss the results of the study and generalization of judicial practice of considering cases (applications) on the recognition and enforcement of decisions of foreign courts of the CIS member states for 2022-2024, as well as other areas of cooperation.
The Council is an interstate body of the CIS and was formed to develop agreed principles and rules for cooperation between courts, its organizational support and promotion of practical implementation in order to strengthen interstate legal cooperation in the judicial sphere and expand mechanisms for mutual legal assistance between judicial bodies. It is intended to enhance the exchange of experience between States on judicial matters, as well as to strengthen cooperation in the field of justice.
In December 2024, Belarus assumed the chairmanship of the Council of Chairmen of Supreme (Supreme) Courts of the CIS member states.
