The judicial board for criminal cases of the Minsk City Court with the participation of the prosecutor considered on appeal a criminal case of hooliganism and causing serious bodily harm.

It was established that on the night of March 8, 2026, a 21-year-old foreign citizen in the company of friends spent time in entertainment venues on Zybitskaya Street in Minsk. When they went out for a walk, there was a conflict between the accused and two previously unknown men over their alleged incorrect behavior. During the conflict, the defendant struck one of the men in the head area, from which he fell and hit his head on the asphalt, the press service said. The victim suffered injuries in the form of a traumatic brain injury, from which the man fell into a coma.

“The second victim tried to protect a friend, but the accused also stabbed him in the head, causing him to fall and sustained injuries in the form of bruises and abrasions on his face. It is noteworthy that the accused at a professional level was engaged in boxing, is a candidate for master of sports, and in 2024 became the champion of his country, the press service said.

Taking into account the evidence presented by the public prosecutor, the court of the Central District of Minsk ruled a conviction.

“On the basis of part 1 of article 339, paragraph 7 of part 2 of article 147 of the criminal code, the accused on a set of crimes is sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 5 years 6 months with serving in a correctional colony under enhanced regime. In addition, in favor of the victims, material compensation for moral damage in the amount of 100 thousand rubles and 6 thousand rubles, as well as property damage and costs associated with the payment of legal assistance for victims, the press service said.

The accused admitted his guilt in part. During the appeal hearing of the criminal case, the prosecutor expressed an opinion on the legality, validity and fairness of the judicial decision. The verdict of the court of first instance was left unchanged, and the appeals of the participants of the process - without satisfaction. The sentence has entered into force.
