At the National airport of Minsk customs stopped the transportation of large amounts of cash from Israel

Minsk customs officers stopped an attempt to illegally move a large amount of cash at the Minsk National Airport. The incident occurred during the inspection of passengers arriving by flight from Tel Aviv, the correspondent of the agency “Minsk-Novosti” with reference to the State Customs Committee.

An Israeli citizen chose a “green corridor” to pass the control, thereby declaring the absence of goods subject to mandatory declaration. However, during the check of baggage, customs officers found money in various currencies. The total amount seized is equivalent to 33 thousand dollars.

It is noted that this amount is more than three times higher than the legal limit for moving without declaring.

A criminal case was initiated against the violator in accordance with Part 2 of Art. 228 of the Criminal Code. The foreigner faces punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to five years, as well as confiscation of funds.

The SCC reminded that when moving cash across the customs border in an amount equivalent to $ 10 thousand or more, it is necessary to pass a written declaration. To do this, you should choose the “red corridor” of the checkpoint.
