It is critically important for scientists and physicians to shorten the path from scientific discovery to practical implementation. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Alexey Trukhanov at the international scientific conference "Fundamental and Applied Sciences - Medicine" in Minsk on October 8, the press service of the NAS reported.

The scientific conference was held within the walls of the National Academy of Sciences, it was attended by leading scientists from Belarus and Russia. The main goal of the meeting is to unite the knowledge, experience and competence of researchers, doctors and specialists in the field of fundamental and clinical medicine to discuss topical problems of translational medicine. The conference program covered the most promising areas of modern science - from molecular biology and neuroscience to regenerative technologies and biomedical engineering.

- We need to strengthen the integration of academic science with clinical practice, said Alexey Trukhanov in his speech. Fundamental advances in physiology, biochemistry, genetics and neurosciences should not be left on the table. Our common task is to ensure that these advanced developments are transformed as quickly as possible into new, effective methods of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases.

In turn, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Medical Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vasily Bogdan expressed confidence that the conference will become the foundation for new joint projects. According to him, the consolidation of efforts of scientists from different countries will allow you to choose the right solution to preserve health and improve the quality of life of people.
