In the village of Grigorovo of the Novgorod municipal district introduced a quarantine for leptospirosis

In the village of Grigorovo, Novgorod municipal district, a quarantine for leptospirosis was introduced. The corresponding order of the veterinary committee of the region from the second of October 2026 affected the territory of one of the personal subsidiary farms, the press service of the veterinary committee of the Novgorod region reported.
Leptospirosis is a dangerous infectious disease that belongs to zoonotes and can be transmitted from animals to humans. The causative agents of infection are spirochete bacteria. Infected pets secrete leptospiras in the urine, which causes pathogens to enter the soil and groundwater, posing a threat to other animals and people.
In connection with the current situation, the veterinary committee urges pet owners to be vigilant. All clinically healthy dogs should be vaccinated against leptospirosis. This procedure is strictly mandatory for animals living within a radius of one kilometer from the village of Grigorovo, as well as in part of the territory of Veliky Novgorod.
Veterinary experts emphasize that it is necessary to vaccinate dogs regardless of their place of residence. Timely immunization will help protect pets from a deadly disease and prevent further spread of infection in the region.
