In Novy Urengoy, doctors destroyed a stone in the bile duct of an elderly woman with a laser

Doctors Novourengoyskaya CGB without incisions removed a large stone from the bile duct 82-year-old patient. As reported in the medical institution, endoscopists Ai-Demir Ondar and Igor Kirtyanov conducted choledochoscopy with contact laser lithotripsy. All treatment took five days, after which the woman was discharged home.

During the procedure, the mini-endoscope was carried through the mouth, esophagus and stomach into the duodenum and then into the bile ducts. After the discovery of the stone, a thin laser fiber was brought to it and the stone was destroyed into fragments.

The procedure is performed under anesthesia, it takes about an hour. This method avoids a large open operation with an incision of the abdominal wall and bile duct.

In September, doctors of Novy Urengoy rescued a man after clinical death amid acute myocardial infarction. The doctors removed the clot, installed a stent and a temporary pacemaker. The patient continued treatment in the cardiology department.
