In Novosibirsk, a teenager with a congenital hip dislocation was installed a rare endoprosthesis
In NIITO named after Tsivyan conducted a complex operation on a 15-year-old teenager with a congenital dislocation of the right hip

The cause of the pathology was hip dysplasia - a violation of the development of bone structures. Head of the Department of Pediatric Orthopedics Vadim Kozhevnikov noted that congenital dislocation is important to detect as soon as possible: with timely treatment, endoprosthetics are often avoided.
However, by the age of 15, the patient had developed serious changes in the joint, due to which it was no longer possible to preserve their own bone structures.
“The child suffered greatly the quality of life – he walked, but already with support, the condition is close to limited mobility – could overcome only very short distances, there was a pronounced pain syndrome,” said Kozhevnikov.
The operation at such a young age is particularly difficult. Artificial joint on average lasts 10-20 years, so in the future the patient may need to replace it. In addition, doctors need to choose a design that is suitable for a teenager, taking into account the size and structure of the joint.
In NIITO, the patient was installed the smallest serial endoprosthesis with a diameter of 44 millimeters.
“We try not to prostheticate 14-16-year-old patients, because it’s too young for this type of surgery, and you can’t get your joint back.” Therefore, our children's department is taking all possible measures to delay or even prevent this operation, Oleg Golenkov explained.
According to preliminary results, after the intervention, the teenager's legs aligned. He now has to undergo a long rehabilitation. Doctors will monitor the recovery, conduct examinations and x-rays to assess the condition of the joint and, if necessary, adjust treatment.
Earlier, "MK in Novosibirsk" reported that surgeons operated on a biker with debris of a kava filter in the heart.
