In Orel sentenced doctors for taking bribes and official forgery

The Soviet district court of Orel considered a criminal case on charges of doctors in bribery and official forgery.

As follows from the materials of the case, medical workers were found guilty of receiving bribes in the form of money by an official through an intermediary, for committing illegal actions in favor of the bribe-giver, if these actions are included in the official powers of the official, on a large scale, as well as in official forgery, that is, entering by an official in official documents of knowingly false information if these actions are committed from a vested interest, entailing a significant violation of the legally protected interests of society and the state.

Thus, the servants of Themis established that neurosurgeons in the state medical institution of the Orel region, for the purpose of personal illegal enrichment, there was a criminal intent aimed at obtaining bribes through an intermediary from servicemen who do not want to perform the duties of servicemen in a special military operation, and pursuing the goal of obtaining an illegal postponement from military service. In fulfillment of the plan, realizing the illegality and public danger of their actions, reliably understanding that the servicemen do not have diseases that give them grounds for obtaining a temporary deferment from the performance of duties, in the period from June 2024 to January 2025 after receiving bribes in the form of money on a large scale through an intermediary, the defendants exposed a deliberately false diagnosis, made deliberately false information in the medical records of patients, and also carried out unreasonable surgical intervention without appropriate medical indications.

During the trial, the doctors did not admit their guilt. The court sentenced K. for five episodes of receiving bribes and three official forgery, for a set of crimes in the form of imprisonment for a term of 8 years 6 months, with a fine of 500,000 rubles, with deprivation of the right to engage in medical activities for a period of two years, with serving a sentence in a correctional colony of strict regime, and P. for four episodes of receiving bribes and two official forgery, for a set of crimes in the form of imprisonment for a term of 8 years, with a fine of 300,000 rubles, with deprivation of the right to engage in medical activity for a period of two years, with serving a sentence in a correctional colony of strict regime.

The doctors were detained in the courtroom. They can still appeal the verdict.
