Members of the Public Chamber of the Orel region Viktor Livtsov and Dmitry Moiseev took part in the opening of the exhibition project “Prince A.B. Lobanov-Rostovsky: in the service of Russia”. It is implemented by the Orel Museum of Local Lore and the Voronezh Regional Museum of Local Lore on the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

As part of the project, an exhibition dedicated to the life and activities of one of the outstanding statesmen of the Russian Empire, Prince Alexei Borisovich Lobanov-Rostovsky, a diplomat who made a significant contribution to strengthening Russia’s international authority, was opened at the Orel Military Historical Museum. In the period 1866-1867 he was the governor of Orel province. The exposition combines archival documents, photographs, historical materials that reveal the versatility of the prince’s personality and his service to the Fatherland.

A member of the Public Chamber of the Orel region Viktor Livtsov addressed the audience. He noted the importance of the event, which brought together the materials of the two regions. Prince Alexei Lobanov-Rostovsky is one of the most prominent figures of the Russian civil service of the second half of the XIX century. In his biography, a special place is occupied by a short but remarkable period of management of the Orel province, which left a noticeable mark in the history of the region.

In turn, Dmitry Moiseev, Director of the Orel Museum of Local History, noted that the participation of representatives of the Public Chamber, educational and cultural institutions of the region in initiatives of this scale indicates a systematic approach to education and upbringing. The exhibition project “Prince A.B. Lobanov-Rostovsky: in the Service of Russia” is an important step in popularizing historical knowledge and attracting attention to the fate of prominent figures whose names are the pride of the region and the country.
