In Polotsk on Friday, October 9, a single day of direct telephone lines of the Council of the Republic was held. This is reported in the telegram channel of the Council of the Republic, writes sb.by.

On the eve of the International Forum “Talk about the Important: Happy Family – Strong State” in Polotsk, the members of the Council of the Republic held a single day of direct telephone lines. The main topics of dialogue with the residents of the country were family policy, protection of motherhood and childhood, as well as improvement of legislation in the field of marriage and family.
For several hours, members of the Council of the Republic analyzed in detail the incoming signals from all corners of Belarus - from support for families raising children with disabilities, to resolving complex alimony issues to the work of social infrastructure on the ground. No issue has been ignored: decisions on each appeal are already being developed jointly with relevant ministries, departments and local authorities.
“The principle of the work of the Council of the Republic remains inviolable: listen to everyone, delve deeply into the situation and provide real assistance to the person,” the press service said.
A single day of direct telephone lines of the Council of the Republic clearly showed that Belarusians turn to parliamentarians not only for solving pressing problems, but also with thoughtful state initiatives. The work of the members of the Council of the Republic in all corners of the country allowed to collect a direct and objective section of issues of concern to families today.
A significant part of the proposals concerned the direct improvement of legislation in the field of marriage and family. Citizens actively advocated the promotion of youth health – for example, there were initiatives to raise the age limit for the sale of alcoholic beverages to 21 years.

Issues of support at the birth of children were raised: it was proposed at the legislative level to enshrine the right to extraordinary housing for families in which three or more babies are born at the same time, as well as to include young families in the lists of priority for rental apartments, regardless of the scope of their activities.
Much attention was paid to the flexibility of using family capital, as well as maintaining the status of a large family until the end of the university, so that students do not lose social benefits and the right to a hostel.
In parallel with legal initiatives, members of the Council of the Republic on the ground helped to promptly remove pressing daily issues. In the Postavsky district, they dealt with the transfer of a two-storey house to electric heating, in Turov and Gomel district - with issues of gasification and improvement, and at separate addresses the leadership of the executive committees went to the place right during the telephone line.
The development of the digital environment and the safety of children in schools, the organization of inpatient medical care, as well as proposals for the promotion of healthy nutrition, have not been ignored.

All proposals received are already analyzed in detail by parliamentarians. Each private appeal has been monitored to provide specific assistance, and the received systemic ideas will become an important reference point for further polishing of the Belarusian legislation.
“The topics addressed at the Single Day of Direct Phone Lines went far beyond general issues. Belarusians addressed the members of the Council of the Republic a variety of life situations – from the subtleties of legislation and payment of benefits to communal problems and youth initiatives.
Serious emphasis was placed on the legal protection of minors and issues of justice. Citizens proposed to consolidate the mechanisms of control over the targeted use of alimony in protracted disputes, and also touched upon the topics of responsibility of adolescents and adjustment of criminal legislation.
There was a strong response to the future of childcare benefits, where the key is to make support more targeted while maintaining all basic guarantees.
No less saturated was the block of household and practical requests. The callers consulted on the design of real estate and wills, asked for assistance in connecting houses to the power grid and improving yard areas.

“All appeals received and ideas proposed by citizens, members of the Council of the Republic took to work,” the press service said.
