In Rostov on the eve of the City Day held a traditional prayer

In Rostov on the eve of the City Day held a traditional prayer service. The details of the event were shared by the head of the Don capital Alexander Scriabin in his social networks.
The service was held on September 18 in the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God. It was conducted by Bishop Taganrog, Vicar of the Rostov-on-Don Diocese of Artemi.
According to Alexander Scriabin, holding such a prayer service during the celebration of the foundation of Rostov has already become an urban tradition.
"We in Rostov have already become a good tradition during the celebration of the City Day to pray together for our city and for all Rostov residents," the head of the city wrote.
Representatives of the delegation of the Bulgarian sister city of Pleven also joined the prayer. The guests handed over to the Don Metropolia the icon of Clement of Ohrid from the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky in Sofia.
After the service, the participants laid flowers at the monument to St. Dimitri of Rostov, in whose honor Rostov-on-Don received its name.
This year, Rostov-on-Don celebrates 277 years since its foundation. The main festive events will take place over the coming weekend.
This year, special attention is paid to the history of the city and Andrei Matveevich Baikov. Under him in the second half of the XIX century in Rostov appeared water supply, street lighting and telephone communication. On the eve of the City Day, there was also a presentation of a book dedicated to the famous mayor.
