The work of the headman is not just a social burden. These people help solve issues with roads, lighting, playgrounds, FAPs and gasification. Behind every initiative implemented in the village is often their persistence and knowledge of whom to turn.
- Congratulations on your holiday. You are our main helpers on the ground, our eyes and ears on the ground. Thanks to you, we understand the problems in rural areas. Lyudmila Sidorova is the headman of the village of Arneevo. She works in a rural library, and as headman for six years.
- I am a local, born, raised here, and I know all the problems. In our work, we actively cooperate with the administration, with deputies. We know where and to whom to turn on a particular issue, she says.

On the eve of the holiday, the head of the district personally visited the headman of the village Buturlino Alexei Martakov. Together they discussed road repair, lighting and future plans – the construction of a sidewalk to the cemetery and a sports ground for the younger generation.

In recent years, rural areas have been included in many gubernatorial programs: improvement, lighting, gasification, road repair. This is the personal merit of every leader. The Institute of rural elders in Serpukhov is developing, the number of activists is growing. This means that the villages have people ready to take responsibility for their small homeland.
