The new office will complement the existing units in Debaltsevo, Horlivka, Mariupol and Torez. Together, they will create a single network to preserve historical memory in the region.
RVIO activity was established by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation in 2012. It is aimed at studying the military-historical past of the country, countering attempts to falsify history, popularizing scientific achievements and educating patriotism.
The Constituent Assembly was held with the participation of the Deputy Head of the Office of the President of the Russian Federation for Public Projects and Deputy Chairman of the RVIO Nikolai Ovsienko. During the meeting, the Charter of the organization was adopted, the management team was formed and the work plan was approved.
“A local office in the Shakhtar district will certainly be in demand. On our land there were battles during the Great Patriotic War, battles were fought in 2014-2015. We cherish the history of our native land and make efforts to preserve it. Interaction with the Russian Military Historical Society will take this work to a new level, said Alexander Shatov, head of the municipality.
The development strategy of the department will cover scientific activities, regional policy, monumental art, museum and exhibition work and the development of military-historical tourism.
