In Sochi on October 10 and 11, festive events are held to the 135th anniversary of the consecration of the Cathedral of Archistratig Michael. The church has already served an all-night vigil and Divine Liturgy.
Services in honor of the anniversary date were held by Metropolitan Gregory of Voskresensk, Metropolitan of Catherine and Kuban Basil and Bishop of Sochi and Tuapse German.
The head of Sochi, Andrey Prosubnin, called the cathedral the oldest Orthodox church in the city and noted its special importance for the resort. According to him, the temple went through difficult periods, was restored in the 1990s and today remains the center of spiritual life.
During the day on the territory of the church complex there is an exhibition “History of the Cathedral of Archistratig Michael in Faces” and an electronic information stand dedicated to the temple.
