At the opening of the Republican forum “Youth”. Belarus. The future, timed to the Day of National Unity on September 17, was made by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.
Through the history of Belarus, the head of state told young people about the holiday of September 17 and its main messages. He addressed the forum participants with instructions:
- You will talk about this holiday to your children, grandchildren, celebrate, celebrate, if you want to be independent. If you want to be heard in the future.

The youth forum was attended by people from all regions of Belarus and the city of Minsk. They represented BRSM, student detachments, youth wings of public organizations and political parties, labor collectives.

- Our information and educational campaign “Belarus Adzynaya” in 2026 was held in a new format of open communication about such an important milestone in history as the reunification of Western Belarus with the BSSR as a result of the liberation campaign of the Red Army on September 17, 1939, said Alexander Lukyanov, Head of the Main Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee. Young people spoke to young people and discussed important issues of our history on an equal footing.

We talked about different aspects of Belarusian unity and this important historical stage. Lukyanov explained that it is easier for young people to discuss the important topic of unity in a relaxed atmosphere than in a classical style or within a very rigidly recorded official event. Young people are able to use and supplement the conversation with new modern technologies, use various audiovisual tools.

- Today, at the Sports Palace, we see that we managed to communicate sincerely and honestly, answer questions, raise problems. And most importantly, find solutions together. We see that our Belarusian people are united and monolithic today. There is a general understanding and appreciation of the significance of the historical act of justice committed on September 17, 1939, the reunification of Belarus for the benefit of the future, Lukyanov summed up.

Then, concert numbers and bright performances of youth speakers alternated on the stage of the Sports Palace. These are six thematic blocks: “Heroism”, “Peacefulness”, “Working”, “National Heritage”, “Role of the Belarusian woman”, “Youth”.

- The youth discussed all aspects of the Day of National Unity during the information and educational campaign “Belarus Adzynaya”, noted Anastasia Burko, a 1st year student of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts. We talked about the First World War, life in the BSSR and Western Belarus in the interwar period, the beginning of the liberation campaign and how reunification took place, the Great Patriotic War and the restoration of the national economy after the war. It gave a clear picture of the past. Seeing it, you realize that events in the modern world are closely related to events in the past. It’s not just about what happened on September 17, 1939. We need to talk more about what kind of footprint this has left in the modern life of every Belarusian, how it affects us today.
