About five thousand residents of the Turkish province of Tokat sought medical help with similar symptoms, including nausea, vomiting and diarrhea

About five thousand residents of the Turkish province of Tokat sought medical help with similar symptoms, including nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. About 70 people required hospitalization. This was announced on Monday by the Governor of the region Abdullah Keklu.
According to the head of the province, mass appeals began on Friday in the administrative center of Tokata. Residents complained of digestive disorders and stomach pain.
To date, 40 hospitalized patients have been discharged from hospitals, and another 30 are continuing treatment. The governor stressed that there is no threat to the lives of patients.
The cause of the mass malaise has not yet been established. Authorities sent samples of drinking water to Turkey's Ministry of Health in Ankara to test a possible link between water quality and the spread of infection. Results are expected Tuesday or Wednesday morning.
Before receiving a conclusion, experts recommend residents to be more attentive to the use of food and drinking water.
On Sunday, sanitary measures were held in all schools and public institutions of the province. The governor said there was no reason for panic at the moment.
