In the Tyumen region, doctors rescued a one-year-old girl who inhaled peanuts. Nuts stuck in the bronchi of the child: the baby began a severe attack of coughing, there was a single vomiting, breathing became difficult. The parents did not waste time and brought their daughter to the reception department of OB No. 12. But against the background of recently suffered bronchitis, the girl's condition deteriorated rapidly - by the forces of TCMK she was urgently transported to Tyumen.
In OKB No. 2, specialists made a diagnosis from which the parents' heart froze: severe out-of-hospital bilateral polysegmental pneumonia of combined origin and multiple foreign bodies in the bronchi. Ahead was resuscitation - five days during which the team fought for the young patient.
Doctors performed sanation bronchoscopy and extracted nuts from the respiratory tract. Then they connected antibacterial and inhalation therapy, and then a course of physical therapy to return breathing and strength. The whole process was monitored by Igor Broder, Deputy Chief Physician for Children’s Hospital No. 2: he controlled each manipulation, coordinated endoscopists, resuscitators and pediatricians, monitored the slightest changes in the child’s condition and adjusted the treatment plan in time.
Elena Serokurova, head of the pediatric department, said that the patient’s story is another reminder of how important it is to be wary of foreign bodies in young children. She thanked her colleagues for their clear and well-coordinated work, wished the girl a speedy recovery, and her parents attentiveness and calm. Doctors are always there and ready to help.
Today, the girl is home - she was discharged from the hospital with her mother. Parents thank doctors for their efficiency and professionalism.
